AED Training

AED training, or automated external defibrillator training, is absolutely necessary if you have an automated external defibrillator in your home, or if you know someone who is at risk of suffering cardiac arrest. And since it's becoming more and more common to find AED units in public places like office buildings, schools, and malls, you never know when your AED training may wind up saving a life.

In addition to getting AED training, it is necessary to know CPR. Typically, first aid, CPR and AED training courses will include both CPR and AED training. The reason it is essential to know CPR is that once it's administered, it helps circulate oxygen-rich blood to the brain. CPR must usually be given after a person receives a shock from an AED. In short, CPR and the automated external defibrillator go hand-in-hand to save lives.

While AED units come with instructions and are simple enough for a layperson to use, getting AED training will enable you to get actual experience using the automated external defibrillator so that you're comfortable with it during a real emergency. Plus, a person who has been through AED training will be able to recognize the signs of sudden cardiac arrest, which is a vital part of the process. Furthermore, knowing CPR and the proper time to use the unit are also very important. Being familiar with an automated external defibrillator thanks to AED training will enable the operator to do the best job possible and stay cool under pressure.
